The physical geography of Spain

1-The rivers 

      


There are a lot of rivers in Spain. The major rivers, and many smaller rivers flowing into them, have dams built on them to form reservoirs which provide Spain with water and electricity.

2-The seas
Spain has an extensive and varied coastline. It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, in the West, the Cantabrian Sea , in the Northand the Mediterranean Sea, in the East.

 3-The relief 

Spain is a mountainous country. There are many mountain ranges and a plateau called the Meseta that occupies the central part of the peninsula.

**Which are Spain's highest mountains and where are they?

-The highest mountain in Spain is the volcano of Teide  (3715m)  on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. 
-The highest mountain in  the Iberian Península is the  Mulhacén (3479m) in the Sierra Nevada east of Granada. 

4-The archipelagos
There are 2 main archipelagos in Spain: the Islas Canarias and the Islas Baleares.
    Islas Canarias are located in the Atlantic Ocean.They are of volcanic origin. The Teide is a volcano located in Tenerife.
    Islas Baleares  are located in the Mediterranean Sea.
